Suffice it to say, analog TV is very inefficient. Took only 80 years or so for us to learn how to walk on one sidewalk, rather then all over the road. --Q

Another reason for the conversion to digital TV is that the airwaves have run out of channels for conventional television. A way to describe the difference between anolog and digital signals is easy. Picture if you will an anolog signal being the width of a street and two sidewalks, where a digital signal is the width of a single sidewalk. This will open local areas up to more available channels in the future for television transmission, which in turn will make more stations available to those who cannot afford cable or satellite.
